The ex-prez owes a speech
Wednesday, 18 May 2011, 10:43 pm

Hey guys, since you all got conned out of having me do a impromptu speech (hehehe), here's the farewell speech I owe. I hope its not too sappy. :)

First off, I would like to thank you all, both the seniors and the juniors of the SAJC photographic society 2010 and 2011. You all are amazing people, and you guys have all really made a huge impact on my life. Thank you all for voting me in as president, for tolerating all my nonsense and inherent ability to mess things up, and most importantly, for supporting and encouraging me all the way till the end. Thank you all for being the amazing people that has brought our little club to soaring new heights, and thank you all for making this CCA feel like one huge insanely loud family.

We have come a long way as a club. It still feels like yesterday that I was J1 and just joined. I had no clue as to what this new CCA would hold for me, and back then I would probably have never imagined that it would make me who I am today, much less integrate itself as such a large part of my identity. This slowly became more than a CCA, and soon my presidency became more than a post; it became a duty to the crazy people who were laughing and shooting along with me every step of the way, and with all our crazy ambitions and dreams, you could say we all launched ourselves into what would ultimately become what we are today.

We took on last year's Class Photoshoot with more than a few minor hiccups, and yet to my sheer amazement, everyone chipped in to make sure that it was a success, sacrificing their breaks without complaint, with support all round to do the best job that we could as a club. This miracle was repeated again during Orientation the following year, with everyone showing such intense dedication and comradeship that honestly made the beautiful photos that everyone took pale in comparison. Open house blew me away as well; we not only got a record number of juniors to sign up and ultimately join us, but also somehow managed to keep a studio running alongside our main booth, amidst all the chaos and laughter. Finally, I would like to think our biggest achievement as seniors was to welcome our dear juniors with a camp, the very first in SAJC photog history! It made me so proud that everyone present took great pains and made it a point to make the camp enjoyable and to bond with everyone, despite it being a bit rushed.

Juniors, I am very sorry that I coulden't take more time to know you all better, but I am glad that you all seem like worthy successors to your seniors. I have seen some of you work, and you all look so very promising, with a similar drive and passion that your seniors have. I hope that one day you too will grow as a CCA to feel like a family, one that will carry you through the ups and downs of being a JC student. I hope that you all will be able to bring photog to new heights, through your own art and as a group. And most importantly, I hope that you all will enjoy your CCA as much as your seniors did, and possibly more. If you ever need help, feel free to bother your seniors. We will be watching you!

Okay, I'm done being all long-winded and sappy. So in conclusion, I wish all my juniors the best of luck in the rest of this year and the next, and I would like to thank everyone, especially the seniors, for just being the awesome people that they are. Thank you all once again! I love you guys. ;)

P.S : Nikolas, you may want to start drafting a speech too. I dont know if the rest of the juniors want you to make an acceptance speech or not. Just saying.
